t r a v e l - countdown

The countdown is well and truly on - in exactly 2 weeks Stephy and I will be wandering the chilly streets of NYC! We will be spending 2 and a half weeks in New York before heading to Vegas for 3 days, then San Fran for 5 days and finally LA for 5 days. This will be my first trip to the US so I have absolutely no idea what to expect but I know I will love it! T x

d i n i n g - international night

For a really, really long time, it has only been T and I living here on the Coast. So, for us, it is super exciting that J has finally made the move back home from Brisbane. She makes us do things, fun things, that T and myself are usually quick to think about, but they are forgotten about even faster. We were sitting in a beautiful little cafe in Seminyak, having some Bintangs with Dad when someone came up with the idea to make Wednesday night family dinners a little more interesting. So, starting tomorrow night, we are each going to be responsible for coming up with a dish from a particular country which will differ each week. Greek is on the menu for tomorrow night, so we will be sure to post some pics of how it all goes. Bam and I are in charge of the sides and I have found the most delicious looking dish, which I cannot wait to show off! But for now, I need to clean my house in preparation! K x

t r a v e l - europa fever

J and I are planning a month-long getaway to Europe in June. Looking for beautiful places to go has already started consuming my time, and it's still just under a year away! At the top of the list; Paris (a family fave) and London, but I am really, reeaallllyyyy pumped to go to Cinque Terre in Italy. Aren't the last few pictures to die for?! K xx

t r a v e l - elsewhere | cambodia

Early last year, I travelled through Cambodia with Bam's family. After two stopovers, one in Darwin and the other in Singapore, we finally arrived in Phnom Penh. I've been to Thailand before and was expecting a similar vibe, but I was so, SO off the mark! I think a mixture of shock, and way too much alcohol made me unwell for most of our week in Cambodia, so I'm really excited at the prospect of going back in February and knowing what to expect. Our first night in Phnom Penh was pretty wild, after no sleep and being in transit for over 24 hours. We started off at the most amazing little Mexican restaurant which you would never be able to find if you didn't know what you were looking for, I think it was called Alley Cats. The owner is an American hippie/60's rock and roll kind of guy, and the food was to die for! The frozen margaritas were okay, too I guess...(they were amazing!) After a stressful, yet hilarious tuk tuk ride, we returned to a bar near our hotel called Elsewhere. Bam's sister has spent a bit of time here so knows the bar guys really well, which I'm certain is why we were getting double the amount of alcohol in our already-potent long island iced tea's! Anyway, long story short, this bar is probably the coolest place I've been, Australia and all! It has beautiful pools with leather beds over them, and the quickest, friendliest service you'll ever experience. It's such a different setting to that just a few metres away on the streets of Phnom Penh-crazy! I'm so excited to go back, hopefully in February-YAY! K x

t r a v e l - little palm | byron bay

This unique Caribbean-style home, Little Palm, has been beautifully renovated by Stephen Eakin and Kimberly Amos. Located in Byron Bay, Little Palm is tucked in between their guesthouses and a nature reserve beyond. We think a stay at Atlantic Guesthouses is a must on our next trip up north! You can check out the guesthouses (which are just as beautiful as Little Palm) here. We'll see you there!

travelbug

T and myself, along with Mr L (we are still trying to con Bam into it!), are in the early planning stages of a trip to the States to enjoy their first, and my second white Christmas! We are still brainstorming, but here are just a few inspirational snapshots for our itinerary, some taken from Bam's and my trip wayyy back in 2008. New York City, when covered in snow is possibly one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had. Sharing Christmas in The City with my two very special cousins Meg & Annie, really was a once in a lifetime opportunity and certainly one none of us will ever forget <3  K x
